Egypt
The Egyptian flag was adopted on October 4, 1984. The red, white, and black are the Pan-Arab colors. The emblan on the flag in the Eagle of Saladin.
The most early inhabitants of present-day Egypt, were the Egyptians. They were ruled by pharaohs. Perhaps the greatest pharoah is King Tutankhamen who reigned until he was eighteen when he died. This was sometime in the 1300s B.C. Alexander the Great, in 332 B.C., invaded Egypt. Later the Muslim Arabs conquered Egypt. In 1171, Saladin became the sultan of both Egypt and Syria. Then in 1517, the Ottoman Turks invaded and ruled for nearly 300 years. Napoleon then conquered Egypt in 1798. Britain soon occupied Egypt and declared them a protectorate. In 1922 Egypt was granted nominal independence and then in 1953 Egypt was declared a republic. After Iraq's invasion of Kuwait in 1990, Egypt became a Middle East leader.
