England

The United Kingdom adopted their flag  on January 1, 1801.  The white saltire on a blue filed was taken from the Saint Andrew's Cross of Scotland.  The central red cross was adapted from Enlgand's Saint George's Cross.  The salture of Ireland's Saint Patrick has been counter changed with the white saltire of Saint Andrew.

England was first inhabited by the Celts in 700 B.C..  England then became a province of the Romans in 43 A.D...  After the Normans in 1066 invaded England during the Battle of Hastings, the conquest of Ireland began in 1171.   The most deadly virus of the old world was the Plague which in a single year killed 1.5 million of the English population, which was roughly at 4 million.  Around 1760 the industrial revolution began in England.  In 1775, Britain then lost the  American colonies in the Revolutionary War.  Margaret Thatcher, in 1979, became Britain's first women prime minister.  Britain handed Hong Kong over to China in 1997.
