A tribute to those who have kept us a free nation

As we light up the grills and prepare to have a summer of fun with our families, let us not forget those who have given the greatest sacrifice any man can.  Let us remember those who fought to keep this a free nation.

Throughout the history of this nation men from every branch of the US military has joined together in the fight to make this nation what it is today.  Without them we would not be the United States.

While you may not know a veteran, please take time out of your holiday and show your thanks to the men who fought so that you could live in a peaceful world.  Even though you may not be able to personally thank a veteran just being aware of what they did for you is enough.

Memorial Day began as a holiday for those who had fought in the Civil War, but with the Great War and World War II it has become a day where we honor all of those who have fought and died for our nation and those who have lived through the wars and are veterans.  Many children today are not taught about the men who helped our nation in its greatest times of need.  But Memorial Day should be a day where children are taught who helped our nation, who have made it so that they can live in a free nation.  While war will never cease, it is imperative that we teach our children so that they might not be the ones who begin a war, rather the ones who step in to free another nation that does not have the privilege of living in such a great nation as we do, a nation where we are free.  So as you sit down down with your family tomorrow, I ask you to teach your children, so that their children may live in a peaceful world.

Have a happy and safe Memorial Day
